[AlpacaTalk] Re: New Alpacas here.

HI and welcome. I am still pretty new to this industry, but I do
know that you will never get rid of/ or make sure that there are no
parasites. I would suggest to go ahead and fence off the area you
will be using for the Alpacas. Consider what the more seasoned farm
owners tell you here. But forme I let it sit for while before you
bring them home. That will keep the deer from depositing and
probably help clean up your area. We too have alot of deer in our
area, and haven't experienced any problems. Oh and about all the
plants, you won't be able to get all them either. Remember where the
animals originally came from. There isn't anyone there taking away
the bad plants. I think that they know what is bad and what is good,
mostly.
You do want to remove some of the worst, if you actually have them,
but please do not worry yourself to death about it. The best advice
I was given while starting out was to find my comfort level and stick
to it. Determine their nutritional needs, medical care (VET),
immunization and worming programs for your area. You will begin to
feel confident
that you are providing your babies what they need. Oh one last
thing, never stop asking questions or reading the forums. Hope that
helps.
