Re: [AlpacaTalk] Re: Show Division
In the past, I had been an associate member, and a show division
member. Last year I was a farm member so that I could vote for the bod
vacancies from the pool of clones, as well as paying for the show
division membership. This year, associate members are not permitted
show division participation. You MUST be a farm member to participate
in the show division.
I don't agree that AOBA fees are artificially low. Up until last year,
they actually did fine financially. Sure, they were not rich, but they
certainly did the things they were directed to do, like publish the
magazine (provided to members at no additional charge) and FRG,
administer shows and judge training. Funny, there was always enough
money.
I've looked around a bit this morning. Oregon Wool Growers Association
membership is $70/year. The National Western Stock Show has very much
lower prices for animal and show entries, plus winners receive prize
money! What a concept.
Annual membership to the Canadian Sheep Breeders Association is $30.
ALSA membership is $50/year, $500 Lifetime membership (an option AOBA
used to have) with no extra fees for "show division." CLAA membership
is $182.70 Canadian. Alpaca Canada is also $182.70/year, actually this
includes the CLAA membership. This includes the ability to show your
animals.
At Pacafiesta, entry fees are $50 per alpaca, $125 for 3, $150 for 4,
$200 for 5, and $250 for 6 alpacas. This includes halter class fees and
stalling.
At the Navan Fair Alpaca Show, it's $25 per alpaca for early bird
registration, and stalls are only $25 each.
