The stems may not be what they prefer, but both my llamas, and my goats
must eat them. If they don't, they will get less at the next feeding. I
feed them enough to keep them in condition, but not so much that they
waste it. It is just too costly to rake up along with the manure. The
only critters that have the luxury of stem build up are a couple of
older, timid does that came up thin at shearing. Didn't take those dears
but a couple of days in their own pen, with excess feed to fall into the
princess role.
